15 Easy Ways to Get Blog Post Topic Ideas

One of the major challenges of blogging is that you need to create a steady flow of content, which means you need to be able to come up with new ideas constantly. Rather than spending time mulling ideas over in your head prior to beginning brainstorming, create a method for developing these ideas. These resources can help you come up with ideas for your blog posts.

  1. Social Media. Check your social media posts from the past year. Search for conversations, and several topics related to them may be possible topics to address. Additionally, attempt to determine if questions people are asking might be topics that you can answer.
  2. Blog Comments. Likewise, for blog comments, the same thing applies. Sometimes, a reader will ask a question or offer his or her own idea that you can use in the future.
  3. Competitors’ Blogs. Research other websites that post articles about a similar subject as yours, and save them for a possible topic later. Don't attempt to use any idea directly as it has already been taken.
  4. Question and Answer Sites. There are several platforms for using Q&A sites like Quora. Experimenting with new topics in answers could offer you ideas for creating a blog post.
  5. Bookstores. Browse online bookstores such as Amazon and the public library ("how to" section) for the subject you're most interested in. Read about different ideas and brainstorm when thinking about the subject you can discuss.
  6. YouTube Videos. Search on YouTube using keywords related to your industry to find videos relevant to your topic. Look for popular YouTubers related to your topic in your niche to create posts for your blog.
  7. Keyword Search. Google can be a helpful resource when it comes to searching for new blog ideas. Seek out particular terms and make meticulous use of the search bar. Google Keyword Planner is an awesome tool to get inspiration once you have determined on the topic.
  8. Expand on Existing Content. Sometimes, you can write a “part 2” of an article or a “companion piece” of the preceding one. This works well for fans of your content, as they can enjoy an instalment series that follows the same plot.
  9. Repurpose Old Content. You can also transform old content into something new. This includes taking a blog, taking snips of an information product, blending audios or videos, or turning blog posts. You can gain more material from old articles by becoming ... something new.
  10. Accept Guests. It is possible to create excellent blog content simply by accepting guest posts or simply by interviewing people who are experts inside your niche and documenting these interviews in the form of articles.
  11. Share News. Sign up for a handful of news outlets in your industry and share your commentaries and ideas on news stories.
  12. Random Title Generator. Use the random title generator provided with an internet search engine to generate a title for your page or blog post. Use it to provide keywords related to your topic to generate some ideas for titles.
  13. Industry Magazines and Newsletters. Go online and check out trade publications to see what kinds of relevant topics are covered.
  14. Follow Influencers. Follow content creators on social media and see what they are discussing.
  15. Ask Your Readers. Speak directly with your subscribers or social media followers and find out what topics they'd like to learn more about.

Create an idea file and each time you sit down to write, you can just start working. Find some good sources you can tap into whenever you need ideas and you’ll never run out.
